SMART PLASTIC COVER | SPaC PROJECT

Essential Details

A significant portion of the interior functionality control components typically involve the production and integration of various levels of plastic parts (e.g., buttons, brackets, etc.) which, interacting with each other, provide the passenger with the ability to perform an action. Some concrete examples lie in the glass opening / closing system, glass / door locking, or rearview mirrors control, which are currently regulated by sets of plastic parts that typically group more than 15 components.

Integration and Efficiency

The project aims to develop and implement new techniques that bring together several distinct automotive interior control features in a single integrated smart plastic injected system, supported by touch technology, without mechanical contacts, robust, easy to build and integrated into the final piece, supported by low-power discrete electronics and therefore high value-added.

Defining the Future

The aim is offering of new, value-added, more efficient products with new functionalities based on smart plastic, with an appealing design and enhancers to reduce their environmental impact throughout the life cycle, by the reduction of materials and resources used, the reduction of weight and its effect on the emissions and the autonomy of the electric motorizations, and finally, by the recyclability of the final product.
